5 Steps for a Trouble-Free Airline Flight

Travelling without stress means being prepared and following the safety advice.

Passenger security awareness tips

Confirm the maximum weight authorized by your airline.

Pay close attention to the list of items prohibited in the aircraft hold, and make sure that none are in your baggage

Make sure that your bags are strong enough. If in doubt, use straps or wrap them in plastic~

Try to ensure that you wear suitable clothes: they should be comfortable and must not include metal features likely to trigger the metal-detector alarms (shoes with steel toecaps, etc).

Prior to leaving, cheek: the terminal from which your flight leaves, the deadline for checking-in and the time the flight takes off.

Items that must not be loaded into the aircraft hold    

Gases, inflammable liquids and solids, reactive substances, oxidants and organic peroxides, toxic or infectious substances, radioactive materials, corrosive substances, vehicle system components that have previously contained fuel, explosives.

For example: camping stoves, scuba tanks, lighter fuel, firelighters, fireworks, signaling flares, breach, vehicle body repair kits, paint thinners, rat poison, medical and commercial isotopes, mercury, vehicle batteries, fertilizers, bangers.

Diving flares, collector's firearms, hunting and spotting firearms are permitted in checked-in baggage tinder certain conditions. Please ask your airline for details.

The following items may not be carried onto the aircraft    

Sharp and pointed objects, heavy or blunt objects, explosive or inflammable substances, chemical and toxic substances, firearms.

For example., knives. scissors, craft knives, razor blades, ice skates, knitting needles, drills, screwdrivers, crampons, ice axes, golf clubs, billiard cues, skateboards, wet-cell batteries, CS sprays, spraypaint, rat poison.

>> Objects that appear to be weapons, especially toys (plastic swords, water pistols, etc.) and helium balloons are also forbidden,

Prepare your hand luggage    

Take a close look at the full list of forbidden objects and permitted baggage sizes, available at www.adp.fr or the information desk in the terminal building.

In addition to your hand luggage, you are permitted to carry one additional bag from the following list: handbag, infant's bag, laptop computer, briefcase, or camera bag.

Keep any valuables (jewels, cash, important documents, etc) on you at all times.

If you are carrying gifts, do not wrap them until you arrive at your final destination: if you are carrying medicines, these should be left in their original containers.

Note the contents of your bag you will find it easier to answer the airline's questions.

>> All baggage will be inspected and will undergo a film-safe X-ray examination.

>> You will be required to hand over any forbidden objects, which will then be destroyed.

At the airport    

Parking outside the terminal buildings is strictly regulated: a maximum of 3 minutes is allowed and drivers may not leave their vehicles. If you need to be accompanied into the terminal building, you should make use of one of the car parks.

Watch your baggage carefully. Any abandoned baggage is treated as suspicious and will be destroyed. Please be patient if you experience a delay caused by the destruction of a suspicious package.

At the check-in    

This is your final opportunity to transfer items that may not be carried onboard an aircraft to your hold baggage. If you are unsure, you should ask the check-in staff, they are there to advise you.

If there is a firearm in your checked baggage (hunting and sporting firearms, etc.), you must bring this to the attention of the check-in staff.

You will be issued with a boarding pass. Keep it and a piece of photo ID close at hand.

>> Do not accept packages from anyone whatever the reason.

>> Be vigilant and alert ADP staff if you see any abandoned baggage.

At the check points

Present your boarding pass and photo ID for inspection, and keep them close at hand until your have boarded the aircraft.

Security screening

Before walking through the metal detector you must place your jacket, overcoat, metal items and cell phone in the receptacles provided and put all hand luggage on the conveyor belt, Be ready to remove your shoes if requested to do so.

You may have to pass through several security cordons. Please cooperate if you are searched or frisked --the security measures are designed to protect everyone's safety.

>> If you wear a metal prosthesis, a pacemaker or insulin punip you should alert the security staff and show them your medical certificate.

>> You are not permitted to retrace your steps once you have passed through the Security Inspection.

Waiting for take-off    

Taking the correct precautions saves you time and ensures that your travel experience is a pleasant one. You now have all the time you need to do some shopping or simply to relax in one of the restaurant areas.

Remember to present your boarding pass and photo ID to the ground staff immediately prior to boarding your aircraft.
